Maersk local charges in Vietnam are the fees Maersk collects at the Vietnamese port on top of ocean freight: terminal handling (THC), the B/L or delivery order fee, seal, telex release, manifest filing and, on some trades, a container imbalance charge (CIC).

Maersk export local charges in Vietnam

Export Maersk local charges are paid by the shipper in Vietnam before the B/L is released. Amounts as published by Maersk; “n/a” means the item is billed per B/L or not published for that size.

Maersk import local charges in Vietnam

Import Maersk local charges are paid by the consignee when collecting the delivery order. Cleaning and maintenance items depend on the cargo type, so check which row applies to your goods.

Maersk charges for reefer, open top and flat rack

Maersk DEM/DET and free time in Vietnam

DEM/DET sits outside the Maersk local charges themselves but often costs more. Demurrage (DEM) runs while the full container stays in the port after free time; detention (DET) runs while the box is outside the port. Some Maersk tariffs combine both into one count. Rates are per container per day.

Before you book Maersk from or to Vietnam: checklist

Most surprises on Maersk local charges come from five points. Check them on the booking, not after the vessel sails.

• Confirm the port. Port-specific rows exist for Da Nang, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon, so the discharge terminal changes the bill.
• Check the currency on each line. Maersk bills USD and VND on this tariff; USD items are converted at the carrier’s exchange rate on the invoice date.
• Ask who pays CIC and cleaning. No CIC is listed, but cleaning and maintenance rows still depend on the cargo.
• Declare special equipment early. 2 rows apply only to reefer, open top, flat rack or out-of-gauge boxes.
• Count the free days. Import free time is 3 calendar days; plan delivery and empty return inside it.
